Mnemotopia (2011)
Stereo Sound, 5:30min
Mnemotopia, 2011 (Stereo Sound, 5:30min) is a sound piece about memory uses and techniques. A mnemonist recites lists of meaningless memorized data, while another voice is talking about her memory palace, a mental building constructed for the storage of personal memories. As we are getting more apt to the accumulation and assimilation of information, Mnemotopia is raising questions about the systematization of our memory. Like in Borge’s story “Funes, the memorious”, the character is accumulating so much information that he is losing the ability of abstract thinking.
