Moonlight Serenade (2009)
HD Video with Sound, 6 min

Moonlight Serenade is a semiotic enigma, comprising of archival lunar images, taken in the late 60s. The arid moonscapes are meshed with a stream of random transmissions of shortwave radio recordings. These inane sounds have been often attributed to military espionage. Spy theorists have claimed these signal transmissions communicate encrypted information about the enemy. In this context, the viewer’s initial unease gives way to a sense of imminent danger, cultivated largely through the loosening of linguistic barriers.
